What Is The Sacral Chakra?

The sacral chakra is the second one from the bottom, located about 2 inches below your belly button in your lower abdomen. When this chakra is healthy, it shines in the color orange and is connected to the element of water, always flowing and moving. It's called Svadhisthana in Sanskrit, which means "sweetness." This chakra helps you see the sweet and joyful parts of life. But it's important not to just chase pleasure. Instead, focus on being fully aware and present in every happy moment you experience.

Sacral Chakra Location

In the body, the second chakra is located 3-5 centimeters (1.5-2 inches) below the navel, and it is usually perceived as a disc of vermillion light.

The location of your sacral chakra can be linked with a nerve plexus called sacral plexus, which is responsible for the movement of our pelvis and lower limb muscles.

Sacral Chakra Symbol Meaning

The symbol of the sacral chakra is like an orange lotus flower with six petals, colored vermilion. Inside the lotus, there's a circle with a crescent moon.

In the center of the circle, there's a syllable "VAM" written in Sanskrit, which is the seed mantra of this chakra. Above the mantra, there's a dot representing the Hindu god Vishnu.

The crescent moon in the center represents the ruling element of water, which affects both the sea and our bodies, like the 28-day moon cycle affecting women's menstrual cycles.

Inside the crescent moon, there's a creature called Makara, like an alligator. It has a long tail representing the coiled Kundalini energy and symbolizes our deep desires and unconscious instincts.
